The 747 Wing House Viewed From the North. Photo By Carson Leh

Remember the spectacular house In the Santa Monica Mountains that was made from the wing of a 747 airliner. The Malibu Garden Club will be taking a tour of this house and spectacular garden on Friday, May 9th. Leading the garden tour will be club member Aaron Landworth, who has taken care of the landscaping for years. The house tour will be given by the homeowner and member of the garden club Francie Rehwald.

A new structure has been added, composed of five pieces of fuselages from the 747 plane. It has spectacular views down the coast and over the Santa Monica Mountains.

We are starting the tour at 10 AM when it is still cool in the morning. Bring a sack lunch and we will provide drinks.

The tour of the 747 Wing House and Gardens was spectacular. We had about 50 members show up and they were all enchanted by the landscaping and House. We can’t show pictures of the House but everybody who saw it went home in awe of it. We do have a few pictures below of the landscaping and people enjoying the view.

The landscaping design and installation by Aaron Landworth is truly amazing. He has every plant you can think of installed there. He should be commended for a work of art he created.

Thank you to the owner Francie Rehwald for sharing her property with us and giving a lovely tour. Thanks also to David Hertz who was the architect of the 747 wing house for his part of the tour. It’s quite fascinating to hear of all the problems encountered and how he overcame them.

The weather was a little warm, but a breeze from the ocean kept it cool. We also enjoyed a little lunch together in the shade of a beautiful structure.
